Darshan Studio is an atelier operating at the intersection of art, technology, and philosophy.
Darshan is the Hindi word for philosophy, which comes from its Sanskrit root drish that means “to see.” Darshan Studio exists to build a rigorous, handmade, image-based practice guided by this phenomenon of darshan – the idea that seeing is not a passive act but a living exchange between the beholder and the world. The Studio’s mission is to become a contemporary reflection of society by conducting & supporting indigenous and interdisciplinary artistic research; offering educational programs; curating exhibitions of photographic & related visual art and undertaking commissioned studio projects. Working with a diverse range of photographic technologies, including traditional and hybrid processes, the Studio aims to engage communities through disseminating knowledge of art and culture at large. The Studio is directed by artist & professor Vibhav Kapoor
